In her first year at University she was discovered as an artist by one of the executives from Sun International and was immediately given the opportunity to perform at their venues across the globe. CC not only prefers to write her own music but also writes for other musicians. Her lyrics are direct, topical and have an honesty that sometimes cuts to the bone. CC’s voice type is mezzo soprano but with a broad vocal range and allows her to write and perform in most genres. When CC or Cat as most of her friends call her is not on tour, she enjoys writing biographies, recording or writing music, painting, cooking or spending time outdoors.
CC completed her education in The United Kingdom prior to travelling the world as a musician while using South Africa and the United States as a home base. She recorded her albums in South Africa with Vynil Record and the world famous songwriter, musician, writer and journalist Tony Ridgway from Art of Pop. In Nashville, Gerry Peters from GP Productions has also done some production for CC on her album Waking in a Dream. CC continues to write music for other international artists, jingles for adverts, theme songs for television programs and songs used in musicals and Television series.
CC has also shared a stage with artist such as William Blackrose, Brenda Fassie, Craig James and Nadine. Even though CC is South African born she has spend most of her singing career in United States of America as well as other countries such as Israel, Turkey, UAE, Syria, Jordan and Indonesia.
CC is an avid supporter of African music and has sponsored several radio programs to showcase African artists. She also believes in developing young talent and sponsors at least one young artist per year to introduce them into the industry. She continuously supports charity projects and contributes actively through fund raising performance shows. She has the tendency to disarm prejudiced attitudes with humor. She is well known for speaking her mind, standing up for what she believes in and fighting for the less fortunate. CC has captured and penned her thoughts and opinions in her collections of Poems which she intends to publish and release in the very near future as part of her artist projects.
CC’s philosophy is: There is no dream unreachable, no obstacle too great to fulfill your destiny. Find something to laugh about every day. Don’t ever let a chance to say “I love you”go by. Forgiveness doesn’t make the other person right but it sets you free. No person is ever too insipid to care for. Rather hurt someone’s feelings by being honest than lie to them. If you touched one person’s life in an audience it was a successful show. Always remember to say thank you, no matter how small the gesture. Memories and special occasions are created; they don’t just happen by themselves. Never give with the idea of expecting something in return. Your worth isn’t calculated by the amount of times you’ve failed but by the times you’ve had the guts to get up again. Always remember that life is a gift! If you concentrate on the past or the future too much, you miss the journey.
CC and her family moved to Kenya and are here to stay. CC started a new multi-racial band based in Nairobi and they have since created their own unique style of Rock/Country/Pop. The new band is called “Cat and The Knights”. “Cat” is the nickname that her friends use for her and “The Knights” being the word play on the band members, who see themselves as the crusaders in a new era for Africans in international music. The band is currently in the studio working on their new album that is expected to be released later in 2014.
Besides music, CC also has an avid business mind and owns various businesses. She loves fashion and style and is currently working on launching her own line of designer clothes, accessories and fragrance in Kenya. Her flair has most probably been inherited from a very artistic father and a musician and very stylish mother. Her range of products will reflect her own unique style, which could perhaps be described as African-Parisian with a unique American touch. CC has never really believed in sticking to fashion trends but has a firm belief that any woman has the right to look and feel beautiful at all times.
The previous album, “Waking in a Dream” was specifically created for the American and European market and was very well received. Songs such as “Sometimes Word and We’re through” reached top of the charts on Country Radio Stations.
CC is well known for being a proud African and simply loves Kenya.”This is God’s country” has become her slogan and she is definitely here to stay. She is married with 2 children and enjoys spending time with her family. She loves animals and the outdoors and is the owner of two adorable miniature Yorkshire Terriers and foster parent to 3-orphaned elephants.
